I'm checking in here today, it's been awhile! We've been busy, and life is good. So here are some little updates and memories that I don't want to forget!

Andy and I are two chapters away from finishing Peter Pan. I had never read the original Peter Pan before, and I am so pleased. It's a really deep, rich story. Lots of symbolism and adventure. Of course Andy knows the entire story already as he has heard various abridged picture stories and has watched at least 3 variations on it in movie form. But he's loving it anyway, and that makes me happy. Today I read the best quote from the book, I think. I felt a little excitement when I did, as though I recognized those words in my own heart. Here they are:

It's in the last battle scene when Peter is setting all the children free from the pirate ship. Wendy narrowly missed walking the plank after she refused to be the mother of the pirates. (Of course, I love that little tidbit of brainwashing... you know, all everyone 'Even pirates!' ever want is a mother)

"Now!" cried all the boys, but with a magnificent gesture Peter invited his opponent to pick up his sword. Hook did so instantly, but with a tragic feeling that Peter was showing good form.

Hitherto he had thought it was some fiend fighting him, but darker suspicions assailed him now.

"Pan, who and what art thou?" he cried huskily.

"I'm youth, I'm joy," Peter answered at a venture, "I'm a little bird that has broken out of the egg."

Isn't that great? I'm surprised that wasn't the quote they all stood on their chairs and yelled in Dead Poet's Society.

Okay, on to other things I want to quick get journalled.

We are all so excited because Noah's g-tube is going to get taken out on April 19th. After 11 years! I can't wait for him to run his finger down his tummy and giggle when he feels nothing there. Such a relief. Like part of a bad dream is over. But at the same time, I'm appreciative of the g-tube. It is after all what kept him nourished for so long. He is tall and strong. He has healthy skin and hair. He's right on target, and we owe that to the g-tube. So, I can't let it go without some fanfare. We'll see what that will be. But anyway, Noah's Independence Day is coming soon!

As for Lucy, dear Lucy. She's so fun. She and Andy are currently taking a morning break hanging out with each other in the backyard hammock. Chatting, rocking and listening to birds. She loves Andy so much. Everything always has to be shown, given, etc to Andy. He's her buddy.

We're excited for spring. We're excited for summer. We're excited for the adventures we will have this year. I'm thankful for the gift of homeschooling for our family and also the neighborhood school just down the street that lets us be involved for 4 afternoons a week, no questions asked and with welcoming smiles.

I feel like we're in a "sweet spot" right now.

Of course, that doesn't change the struggles, the blood sugar regulation for Noah and Lucy, the therapies... the "work" of life. But choosing to live it, to face it and to not run away is a better way, and the path we're staying on.

Scott has been given the go ahead to work somewhere "remotely" for a month! Our new thoughts are to where we might like to go. Somewhere secluded? Somewhere nuts? (Disney World?) The beach? Maybe a beach house in the Outer Banks for a month? Who knows, but we are so excited about the prospects and thankful for the flexibility that Scott's job offers.

Alright. I've got to run, I'm going to walk Andy to afternoon school with Lucy and maybe take a little extra walk in the meantime... but first I've got to get them fed. Bye!

Hooray for Peter Pan!
Yes, the book has SO much more going on in it than one might first think. Barrie certainly had his finger on both sides of the coin, so to speak. It's such a bitterwseet tale. :)

Be sure to read THIS book, too.
It's based on Barrie's own idea for more Pan adventure.

You're welcome!

And just think... he won't know what's coming next in THAT story... so you can experience it together. :D

There's also a good Pan book that's just for you - as in it's not for kids. It's a 'what if?' adventure of Wendy choosing a different path. Click!

Enjoy.
(and thanks for clapping! ;] )
