For those of you tracking our progress with Lucy... we are home! We came home last Friday on an insulin pump. We have been monitoring Lucy's blood sugars very closely and her pancreas has decided to up the insulin output again, so she has actually been off insulin since Friday. She has actually had some low blood sugars on her own without any insulin, so we have to be very vigilant about checking her blood sugars regularly.
Noah's blood sugars haven't been that great so last night Scott brought home $500 of test strips for $20. This is one of the many reasons why our insurance company probably hates us. That and the millions of dollars of hospital stays we've cost them over the years. Literally our family has probably cost around two million. I can't even fathom how insurance companies even stay in business... of course they don't pay the full amount that an uninsured person would.
Anyway, we've been enjoying having all three kids and Mommy and Daddy under the same roof. We had a fun little Easter egg hunt on Sunday night right before bed (we didn't have their Easter presents until then!) They were cute in their jammies looking for Easter eggs. I love being a mom even if it is the most stressful thing I have ever done in my life!
To those of you who have emailed, left blog messages, called, written or sent gifts and meals... Thanks and I am very sorry if I haven't gotten back to you yet. I literally am not able to talk on the phone right now as I am attempting to get back into some sort of system with the two blood sugar kiddos and Andy's need for love and attention, homeschooling, getting the house reorganized after being gone for almost a month, and simply trying to keep everything running. We are taking it hour by hour now. Eventually we'll catch up!
We've been eating lots of gyros from Ted's, in fact after I stop here I will check the baby's blood sugar and if she's good... I can leave her with Scott's mom for ten minutes and run and get lunch!
So far Scott and I have had a great time parenting the three kids, but I can't see how people have any more than three! I am always amazed at people who have large families and then homeschool them.
Anyway, no books to summarize, no movies to critique. My learning lately has been refreshing myself on PHHI and diabetes knowledge, learning the insulin pump, and trying to figure out just exactly how this is all going to work!
I will keep you posted and let's hope Lucy's blood sugars stay good for awhile and that Noah's get stabalized so we can focus on something else!
